Practice Site Guidance Document

This document provides guidance for the online practice tests and released items, including an overview of the available tests, how to sign into the Student Practice Site, and the available features. Additional information about the Test Administrator Practice Site and the Student Practice Site is available in the Test Administrator User Guide.

Science Tools

Three additional tools are available in the Student Testing Site and Practice Test Site for the Physical Science tests. The reference sheet and periodic table can be downloaded and printed. The scientific calculator is fully functional and identical to the calculator available in the tests.

Student Testing Site Tutorials

These tutorials provide information about the online Student Testing Site. Part 1 walks through the student sign-in process and navigation. Part 2 covers the tools available to students.

Interactive Equation Tutorial

The equation tutorial explains how to use the Equation Response Editor tool and lets you practice using the tool.

Desmos Calculators

Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, the Ohio State Tests will use Desmos as the online calculator. The Desmos calculators available here and in the practice test site have been modified for testing.

The modified versions of the Desmos calculators are available to use for practice at any time and are the same versions students will have available during online testing.

The guidance documents provide information about the modifications for testing, accessibility and additional resources.

Math Extended Response Editor

Equation

This tutorial demonstrates how to respond to questions that require the student to create an equation or expression. Note this item type appears only on the Physical Science Tests. Please note there is no audio.

Matching Item

This tutorial demonstrates how to respond to questions that require the student to match items in a table. Please note there is no audio.

Multi Select

This tutorial demonstrates how to respond to questions that require the student to select any number of answers from available options. Please note there is no audio.

Multiple Choice

This tutorial demonstrates how to respond to questions that require the student to select an answer from several options. Please note there is no audio.

Grid Item

This tutorial demonstrates how to respond to questions that require the student to place, move, or interact with objects, or draw points or lines. Please note there is no audio.

Simulation

This tutorial demonstrates how to interact with questions that require the student to make choices and run a simulation. Please note there is no audio.

Inline Choice
